Buying guide · Malaysia
Rainy season, a small balcony, laundry that smells damp the next day. Most Malaysian homes reach for a tumble dryer or a dehumidifier. There is a third option many people have not heard of: a smart laundry rack — a ceiling-mounted, motorised drying rack with built-in air drying and UV. Here is how the three compare, honestly.
Smart laundry rack vs dryer vs dehumidifier: side by side
| Smart laundry rack | Tumble dryer | Dehumidifier | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it dries | Clothes hang on the rack; built-in fan with hot or cold air (Pro, Max) moves air through them | Clothes tumble in a heated drum | Removes moisture from the room air; clothes dry slowly on a separate rack |
| Floor space | None — mounted on the ceiling and raised out of the way | Needs a floor spot or stacking kit, plus venting or a water tank | Floor unit, usually moved between rooms |
| Power use | Low: the motor runs only when lifting, the fan and heater only when you switch drying on | High: a heated drum is among the most power-hungry home appliances | Low to medium, but often runs for many hours |
| Clothes care | No tumbling, no heat shrinkage; clothes keep their shape | Heat and tumbling can shrink and wear delicate fabrics | Gentle, but slow drying can leave a damp smell |
| Hygiene | UV sterilisation on Pro and Max | Heat | None for clothes |
| Extra uses | LED downlight; frees your balcony; no more stools or poles | — | Helps damp rooms and mould |
| Price (Bellbro) | From RM999 (Lite) · RM1,499 (Pro) · from RM1,799 (Max), plus installation | Varies widely by brand and size | |
Why a dryer is not always the answer in a Malaysian condo
Dryers work well, but they take floor space many condos do not have, they draw a lot of power per load, and they are hard on clothes that should not be tumbled. Most Malaysians still hang-dry everyday clothes — the problem is that they dry slowly indoors when it rains. A smart laundry rack solves that exact problem: you keep hanging your clothes the way you always have, and the rack adds moving air (and on Pro and Max, heat and UV) so they dry faster and fresher.
Why a dehumidifier alone often is not enough
A dehumidifier dries the air, not the clothes. In a closed room it helps, but thick items still take a long time, and you still need somewhere to hang them. Many homes end up with a dehumidifier and a foldable rack taking floor space. A ceiling-mounted rack with built-in air drying does both jobs in one place.

Frequently asked questions
Can a smart laundry rack replace a dryer?
For clothes you normally hang-dry, yes — that is what most families use it for. If you need towels and bedsheets completely dry within an hour or two, a dryer is still faster.
Does it work in a condo without a balcony?
Yes. It mounts on the ceiling of a yard, laundry area or room. Our team checks your ceiling type (concrete or false ceiling) before installation.
How much does installation cost?
RM250 for concrete ceilings, RM350 for false ceilings or installation with a bracket. Installation is done by our own team in the Klang Valley and Johor Bahru.
Is delivery free?
Yes, delivery is free in West Malaysia.
